This small map shows the oil producing region from Titusville south to Oil City and Emlenton depicting the numerous oil companies and refineries in the region. This area experienced an oil boom in the mid-nineteenth century, prior to the iron and steel industries growth near the turn of the century. The map is still bound into the book containing 277 pp. of text that describe the local oil region and oil wells, the "prominent men" of the region, as well as a description of the oil regions in West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio and New York. 12mo, hardbound with brown cloth embossed boards and gilt title on spine.
