This set includes three wooden puzzles out of a set of five enclosed in a decorative wooden box. Each puzzle features the portraits of 10 famous men along with a vignette of the person in action. The portraits include explorers, philosophers, inventers, artists, etc. such as La Perouse, Thomas Edison, Captain Cook, Gaspard Monge, Humphrey Davy, Denis Papin, Carl von Linne, Louis Robert, Jean van Eyck, Louis Daguerre, Albrecht von Haller, Frederic Sauvage, and many others. Each portrait is numbered, and this set includes the portraits for 21-50, with one piece missing from portrait 47. The box cover features a paper label from the first puzzle in the set, which is not included. Each of the puzzles has gilt borders and edges, and the paper labels were printed using chromolithography.

Condition: B

The puzzle pieces are warped, but still fit together. The paper labels are lightly rubbed and detaching in a few spots, and there is a 1/2" chip on one piece. The box is fairly worn with a slightly concave cover, and a few side pieces are coming loose.
