A. State of New Jersey , ca. 1799, (7.5 x 10.5"). This is an early and important map of New Jersey. It is a reduced copy of Reid's map from 1796, which is a copy of Lewis' map, with less detail. The map shows twelve counties, the division line of East from West Jersey, and provides an great view of early settlements and roads. "An Extensive Forest of Pine Trees" appears across the middle of the state. B+ - Nice impression with some very minor offsetting. Issued folded.

B. The State of Pennsylvania From the Latest Surveys , 1800, (10.5 x 7.3") . This is a reduced version of Reid's map of 1796, which was the first map to use the correct New York - Pennsylvania boundary. Allegany is listed for both the County and River. The West branch of the Schuylkill, Little Schuylkill, and Potomac rivers are shown. The detail includes topography, towns, donation lands, counties and townships, as well as remarkable network of early roads. B+ - Dark impression with some minor creasing and two professional repairs on verso. Issued folded.
