This lovely lithograph of Horseshoe Fall, with Terrapin Tower in the distance at left, was engraved by August Kollner, lithographed by Isidore-Laurent Deroy. printed by Cattier, and published by Goupil, Vibert & Co. August Kollner was born in Germany in 1813, and worked as an artist, engraver and lithographer prior to emigrating to the U.S. in 1839. He traveled around the country drawing views of the land. In 1848-51, Goupil, Vibert & Co. published a set of 54 of Kollner's views of American cities, including eight prints of Niagara.

Condition: B+

Original color with a minute wormhole in right side of image and a few unobtrusive spots. Large damp stain and some foxing in blank margins, and two short tears in lower blank margin have been closed on verso with archival tape. An embossed stamp from L'Amateur, an antiquarian bookstore in Buenos Aires, in bottom blank margin and remnants of hinge tape on verso.
