"Davis' Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Hawaiian Islands and the World",

This is an unusual atlas published by Ellis A. Davis of Berkeley CA. Hawaii became a territory of the United States in 1898 and in the early 20th century sugar and pineapple plantations fueled Hawaii's economy. This interesting book provides a fascinating picture of the islands, it's growing cities, and prosperous economy prior to the advent of tourism. The atlas portion contains 98 maps by the George Cram Co. including individual U.S. state maps, and maps of the continents and major counties of the world. Also included are several interesting diagrams illustrating all sorts of statistics including several illuminating charts on the nation's revenues and expenditures! Original gilt-titled, brown cloth covers boards.
