This is a superb chart of the River Avon from Bristol to its junction with the Severn Estuary. The large title cartouche is flanked by a river god and goddess and features a large sailing ship passing through the narrow Avon Gorge. Numerous ships are shown in the Severn Estuary where a compass rose orients the chart with north in the bottom right corner. Second state with the dedication cartouche to Robert Yate, Mayor of Bristol. Printed on two joined sheets, as issued.

Condition: B+

Minor worm tracks near the bottom of the outside vertical folds have been repaired with old paper on verso. There is toning in the blank margins from a previous framing.
