Scarce, curious map of the Americas that was based on the cartography of Johann Schreiber. It shows a very late depiction of the mythical island of California with the Terra Esonis Incognita coastline stretching towards Asia. The title cartouche includes the incongruent appearance of an elephant and a lion. At right is a panel of German text describing the regions and colonial possessions. Some editions of this map have additional text along the bottom, this example is without.
