This large folio atlas is complete with seventy-four large maps, all in hand color. This is very late for hand coloring and something we see only in this atlas. Each map is surrounded by a decorative border. The atlas is in two parts: Eastern Hemisphere and Western Hemisphere. There are maps of all U.S. states and territories; many are spectacular and unusual. The large state maps generally measure 22.5" x 16.3" and are filled with remarkable detail, beautiful engraving and fine coloring. Most of the over fifty maps of U.S. interest are double page and include a fine railroad map of the U.S., California, Texas, Colorado, etc. Each map is dated 1889. Large folio, seventy-four maps, each with index on verso or on separate page.
