This brightly colored and highly decorative Centennial Card has a map (7 x 4.5") of the United States against a backdrop of American flags. Probably used as a Centennial gift by the company whose name is prominently displayed at top, "Continental Mills, Lewiston, ME." -- which is still in operation today. Each state is individually colored and details include capital cities, major watershed, etc. Virginia City is shown as the capital of Montana suggesting the geography is current to 1875. Printed by the Forbes Co., New York. Centennial cards of any type are uncommon and usually feature Liberty so one featuring a map is highly desirable.
