"Urbis Romae Veteris ac Modernae Accurata Delineatio", Homann, Johann Baptist
Period: 1730 (circa)
Color: Hand Color
23 x 19.3 inches
58.4 x 49 cm
This bird's eye view of Rome presents the city on seven hills in remarkable detail, right down to the streets, churches, houses, gardens, piazzas, bridges and gates. A small inset plan at the bottom shows the seven hills along with the fourteen coats of arms and a key to the corresponding city divisions. The map is embellished with large figurative and architectural cartouches and several cherubs.
The map has some damage and loss into the map with some loss at lower left with worm tracks into bottom distance scales and a repaired tear in the coat of arms. The map would benefit from some professional repairs, but could be framed as is.
