"[Lot of 10 French fashion]", La Mode Illustree

These lovely fashion plates are from La Mode Illustree, one of the best known French fashion magazines published in the latter part of the nineteenth century. Distributed on a weekly basis, each issue featured a description of Victorian fashions and related accessories. They are superb steel engravings with extremely fine hand-coloring.

An attractive group of finely hand-colored fashion plates showing dresses, hats and accessories for the up-scale 19th century woman. There are two examples of the last fashion plate in this lot.

Mostly all very good with a few minor stains and one short repaired tear on the first plate.
