This is a rare auto tour book whose title continues "Containing Twenty Thousand Miles of Automobile Highways in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Arizona and Colorado, Covering All Auto Roads in That Section of the Intermountain West of which Salt Lake City Is the Natural Center. Strip Maps or Logs of the Lincoln Highway, Midland Trail, Pike's Peak Route, Zion Park Highway, Pershing Historical Highways and Evergreen Trail, Passing Through This Section. The Complete Salt Lake-Yellowstone Park and Salt Lake-Grand Canyon Routes." Cloth, 4to, 188 pp. The book is filled with photos, early auto related ads, scores of detailed maps and a large folding map in the rear. The colorful "Salt Lake Tribune Auto Highway Map" (21 x 22") folding map is centered on Utah but includes Idaho, Nevada, Colorado and parts of Arizona, New Mexico, and Wyoming. Each town throughout the west has the mileage noted from Salt Lake City. On fine bond paper with watermark. The green cloth cover carries the title "Rishel's Routes 1921 Official Touring Guide". Rishel was a pioneer of western auto route maps, but his guide books are scarce. Published by the Tribune Auto Tour Book and printed by F.W. Gardiner Press of Salt Lake.
