This fantastic atlas presents the world to the reader by initially describing the cultures, customs and traditions of its uniquely varied inhabitants. Numerous uncolored wood engravings and 10 beautiful, tinted lithograph prints further illustrate the diversity of the various races of the world, and are interspersed throughout the 292 pages of text. The 67 colored lithograph maps are meticulously crafted and loaded with place names. Each is precisely engraved and delicately colored. This complete atlas also includes a title page, Preface, Table of Contents and a Table of Statistics, a "Pronouncing Vocabulary of Modern Geographical Names", and a 99 page index of geographical positions. Folio. Original full, dark red leather covers and spine with gilt edges and titles. Gilt on edges (TEG) and marbled endpapers.
