This very early collection of four dissected linen backed automobile maps covering the whole of France, were produced by Louis Theuveny and the De Dion-Bouton automobile manufacturer at the beginning of the 20th century. Each map measures 24" x 28" and is loaded with roads, highways, canals, rivers and place names. Later editions of these maps feature a decorative cartouche and illustrations of automobiles. De Dion-Bouton was the largest carmaker in the world at the time, and their roadmaps served as a very popular accessory to the privileged few who owned automobiles. Complete with original slipcase with its pasted down paper title sheet.


Condition: A

Maps with some light toning and occasional peeling back along a couple of the dissections. Slipcase is well worn and split in half down the cloth spine. Some old masking tape reinforcements on the back cover of slipcase. The maps are surprisingly clean and well kept for their age and intended usage.
