A better than average example of this hard to find edition of a children's history book. Authored by Samuel Griswold Goodrich under the pseudonym Peter Parley. There are 18 full-page, hand colored engraved maps by G.W. Boynton, including individual maps of New York , Ohio and the New England states, and regional maps of the middle, southern and western states. The map of the United States features the Oregon, Missouri, Utah, New Mexico and Indian Territories. Also represented in this textbook are Mexico, North America, South America, and the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. The Mexico map shows the Independent Republic of Texas. All maps present, text apparently complete. 12mo, hardbound in illustrated paper covers with leather spine.
