This is a stunning, Ptolemaic map covering eastern Libya and Egypt and the Nile Delta in considerable detail with the characteristic rope-like mountains and exaggerated rivers. The map is a slightly reduced version of Waldseemuller's similar map of 1513 with Latin text on verso. This map is from a reissue of the 1535 Ptolemaic atlas edited by Michael Servetus.
Appropriate, later color with very skillful professional repair of extensive worming on centerfold done with the leaf-casting method with some facsimile; a superb, nearly invisible job of conservation.
