1) This title page was for Johannes Blaeu's Atlas Novus. It was common practice for the decorative engraving to be printed without the atlas title, which was adhered at the time of publication - in this case, the title is blank with only the publisher's imprint is adhered to the sheet. The composition shows Ptolemy, carrying an armillary sphere, and Willem Blaeu, displaying a rolled map, in an architectural framework featuring terrestrial and celestial globes. (10.8 x 16") 2) Nomenclator Ptolemaicus is from Abraham Ortelius' Parergon and features an elaborate cartouche at center. (11.5 x 17")
