"A Diagram of Oregon, Surveyor General's Office", General Land Office

Early land office map of Oregon that is signed in the plate by the Surveyor General in Eugene, August 16th, 1861. The 2nd Session of the 37th Congress adjourned in August, 1862, but notations on the map show revisions to this map up to June, 1863. Good detail on a scale of 1 inch to 18 miles. Delineates the status of public land surveys plus the roads, towns, topography, major rivers, and routes of exploration. Locates and names General Harney's Cutoff, Proposed Emigrant Route, California or Fremont's Trail, Northern Immigrant Road, Fort Boisee, and more. Survey progress is limited to the western and Columbia River areas.
