Superb double-page architectural engraving of the Parthenon Temple at Athens. This is from a series of prints compiled by Hector d'Espouy from a drawing by one of his students at the School of Beaux Arts. Hector Jean-Baptiste d’Espouy was a French painter, architect, and professor of ornamental design at the School of Beaux Arts in Paris. D’Espouy’s collection brought together drawings of the Acropolis, Parthenon, Pompeii, Roman temples, the Pantheon, the Coliseum and other ancient sites. He also edited other architectural books including a set on Medieval and Renaissance architecture.
