This Italian edition of Ptolemy's Geographia was printed by the brothers Paolo and Francesco Galignani. Two parts in one, complete with sixty-four (64) copperplate maps, all skillfully engraved by Girolamo Porro. They are divided into the Ptolemaic maps (27) and 'modern' maps (37). Includes fine maps of the Americas (Burden #83), Asia (Yeo #14), Africa (Norwich #24), four world maps including the beautiful reduction of Rumold Mercator's world map (Shirley #193-196), and numerous other interesting maps. Part 1 - leaves: (2) (2), 1-62; Commentarii..…leaves: 21 (1); Contents: leaves (14). Part 2 - leaves: 1-212; (index) leaves: 30 (1). Small folio, rebound (20th century) in attractive quarter red leather with raised bands. Bookplate of Charles Edward Armstrong on inside front cover.

Overall very good. Maps in fine condition with minor toning and scattered foxing in text. Binding with minor shelf wear.
