First state of this fine map of Israel with north oriented to right. Large decorative title cartouche at bottom surrounded by vignettes depicting the life of Christ. At top, putti hold banners with the key to the map and scale of miles, while tiny ships sail in the sea, including the track of Apostle Paul. Visscher's trademark fishermen flank the vignettes at bottom - at left the younger Nicolas and at right the elder Claes Janszoon. Dutch text on verso.
