This beautiful map is a re-issue of Hessel Gerritsz' rare and significant map of Russia (1614), which he compiled from manuscripts brought back to Amsterdam by Isaac Massa. Includes a detailed inset plan of Moscow, with corresponding lettered location key that is attributed to the Crown Prince Fydor Gudonov. The map is richly decorated with a large title cartouche incorporating the coat of arms, sailing ships, a compass rose, three Russian gentlemen, and a view of Archangel Sckagoroda.
