Two items of archeological and Alexander the Great interest. 1 - Alexandri Magni Imperium et Expeditiones by C.F. Delamarche, Paris, 1826, outline color (17 x 11"). Copper engraved map of Alexander the Great's Empire stretching from Greece through Afghanistan and Egypt through Iran. 2 - Ruinen van 't Paleis van Darius, gelegen in 't oude Persepolis, door last van Alexander de Groote verbrandt, engraved by I.C. Philips and published by Van der Aa, Leiden, circa 1719, B/W (21.5 x 11.2"). This fine copper engraving shows the ruins of the palace of Darius at Persepolis burnt by the troops of Alexander the Great in 330 BC. Today, Persepolis remains one of the world's great archeological sites.
