The Beemster Polder was the largest of the Dutch polders at the time it was diked and drained in 1612. This was one of the great triumphs of hydraulic engineering, the completion of which is commemorated now at a museum housed in a pumping station at one end of the polder.

Condition: C

Uniform toning with several marginal tears, a couple of which enter map at top and all with old repairs. A beautiful map with a dark impression that would benefit greatly from minor conservation.
