Very early examples of cartoon art. Each sheet consists of a series of scenes with text below each panel, which tells a moral story. They were originally developed in France by the Imagerie d'Epinal and published in America by the Humoristic Publishing Co., possibly for distribution at Sunday schools. They provide a fascinating view of mid-19th century moral views. Lot contains: The Enchanted Whistle, Don Quichotte, The Mis-Adventures of Mr. Heedless, Cecilia the Babbler, The King of the Moon and William Tell.
