The title of this early map is misleading because in 1832 Florida was a territory and not a state. There are only a few counties designated in the southern portion including Monroe County in the far south, and Mosquito County taking in most of the east coast. Seminole Indians are shown in Central Florida and an Indian Path connects the Tampa vicinity with the east coast above a town named Florida near present-day Miami. Published by Hinton, Simpkin & Marshall.
