"Delaware",

This pictorial map of the state emphasizing its history was drawn by Robert T. Aitchison for The Mentholatum Company. It presents the state's three counties in bold color with text and illustrations describing important historical events, personages and buildings. Additional text at left provides a detailed state history and various statistics are noted at right. According to the cartouche, “this historical map prepared by the Mentholatum Company introduces us as a new citizen of Delaware…we are proud to add Mentholatum to the long list of world-famous Delaware products.” Hornsby notes that Mentholatum produced historical maps for classrooms, and “those who sent in a box top from a thirty-cent package of Mentholatum received a free copy of the map.”
