This lot consists of two of the promotional brochures that were issued by the Colorado State Highway Department in the 1940s and 50s. They each feature a large pictorial map of "Colorful Colorado." Both self-folding.

A. Colorful Colorado Invites All America to Enjoy Healthful Climate - Varied Resources - Superb Scenery and Recreation, by Bradford-Robinson Printing Co., dated 1946 (20.6 x 16.3"). The map of "Colorful Colorado" here is filled with small illustrations emphasizing the state's history, natural resources, and recreational activities including hiking, fishing, hunting, mining, and more. Historical highlights are listed below the map. Other elements within the brochure include a detailed highway map of the state, a smaller map of highways in Denver, mileage table, photographic illustrations, and related text. Condition: Issued folding with a few tiny splits at fold intersections. (A)

B. Colorful Colorado Invites All America to Enjoy Healthful Climate - Varied Resources - Superb Scenery and Recreation, by A.B. Hirschfeld Press, dated 1953 (20.8 x 16.7"). "Colorful Colorado" is depicted here in a topographical map, with elevations identified across the landscape. Highways vein the state in red. The title cartouche is bordered by a looped rope and incorporates the state seal. Historical highlights are listed below the map. Other elements within the brochure include smaller maps of the connecting routes in Denver, Grand Junction, Colorado Springs, and Pueblo; a detailed highway map of the state; mileage table; photographic illustrations; and related text. Condition: Issued folding with a few short splits along the folds and an edge tear at bottom that just enters the title cartouche. (B+)
