This 50-page report provides an update on the Washington Aqueduct which would "afford an ample supply for fountains at all appropriate places, and for cleansing the streets and sewers of the city." Prior to the aqueduct's arrival, the city of Washington had such a woefully inadequate sewer system that, according to the Chief Engineer of the Aqueduct, "the accumulated filth and excrement of the city is constantly held in a state of semi-solution in this hotbed of putrefaction." Included with the report is the large folding Map of Washington Aqueduct (27.7 x 7.4"), which shows its path along the Potomac River, and three smaller maps. The list of maps include:

A. Map of the Washington Aqueduct... (28.9 x 7.4").
B. Washington Aqueduct. Map of the Potomac River at Great Falls... (9.0 x 7.6").
C. Washington Aqueduct. Map of the Receiving Reservoir... (9.0 x 7.6").
D. Washington Aqueduct. Plan of Distributing Reservoir... (9.1 x 7.6").

Folding maps are lightly toned. The long map (first image) has several fold separations that have been closed on verso with archival tape. Disbound text is very good.
