This decorative map is centered on a large compass rose in the Indian Ocean. It details the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Sumatra and the Malaysian peninsula with three inset detail maps along the bottom including a part of the Malabar coastline, a part of the Sri Lankan coast including Negombo, and the Maduran Strait between Java and Madura. This is the southwestern sheet of a 4-sheet map of Southern and Southeast Asia; each map stands on its own with full borders and a title above the map.

A sharp impression with full contemporary color on a lightly toned sheet with several small stains in the top corners of the sheet and light dampstains along the sides of the sheet.
