1) La Generalite de La Rochelle Comprenant le Pays d'Aunis, la Saintonge, &c., Divisee en Cinq Elections..., Jean Batiste Nolin, 1704, (25.5 x 14.4"). This stunning and strongly engraved map is centered on Rochelle. It extends to include Rochelle's large bay and islands, inland to locate the towns of Fontenay, Niort, Surgeres, St. Jean d'Angely, and Brouage. Locates the important Champagne and Cognac regions. With an extensive legend locating brigades, abbeys, ports, and much more. The enormous title cartouche occupies much of the right side of the map and includes views of Rochelle above and Rochefort below. At the left is a large vignette of the tower of Cordouan. This is the upper half of a map that was issued on two sheets. Stunning impression on very thick paper with huge margins. Small water stain in upper blank margin and a short tear in the bottom blank margin, otherwise near fine. (A)

2) Xaintonge et Angoumois, Willem Blaeu, circa 1650, (19.8 x 15.4"). A decorative map that shows Saintonge from La Rochelle to the mouth of the Garonne and from the Atlantic to Angoulesme, including the famous city of Cognac (Congnac). Saintonge was the birthplace of the famous French explorer Samuel de Champlain. The title cartouche is attended by a pair of cherubs, and two female figures flank the scale of miles. Latin text on verso. Fine impression and very nice original color, printed on a thick sheet with full original margins. The wide margins have some short edge tears, the upper centerfold is split into the map at top without loss and there are some extraneous folds along the centerfold. (B)
