Two fine books focusing on the famous botanical artist, Pierre-Joseph Redoute, who painted in the lavish gardens of Malmaison for Empress Josephine Bonaparte. First (Roses) contains fine facsimile reproductions of the original plates. Folio, 341 pp, 167 full-color plates. Hardcover in red buckram with illustrated dustjacket. Second (Les Liliacees) contains full color illustrations and extensive notes on the taxonomy of the plates by Peter & Frances Mallary. 229 pp. Hardbound in green buckram with illustrated dustjacket.
