Authors J.B. Harley, Barbara B. Petchenik, and Lawrence W. Towner. This is the first study of changing cartographic approaches to a single series of military events. Harley draws on 18th century published manuals and atlases to investigate the contemporary mapping of the Revolution. Other chapters examine the 19th and 20th century cartographic record of the war. It also describes the work of three major 19th century historians and their roles in perpetuating or modifying the traditional cartographic representation of Revolutionary battles. Illustrations in b/w. First edition, hard bound in gray cloth, dust jacket, 185 pp, index.
