"A New Map of the Terraqueous Globe according to the Ancient Discoveries and most general Divisions of it into Continents and Oceans", Wells, Edward

Double hemisphere with California as an Island. Wells, a math professor at Oxford, dedicated the map to William, Duke of Gloucester. The 13 year old Duke, heir to the throne, died a few months after the map was issued. Surrounded by engraved scenes and a decorative cartouche. North America is noted as perhaps being "no other, than the Insular Atlantis of the Ancients."
