Important Revolutionary War period map issued in November of 1776. It is an early English derivative of Joshua Fisher's important plan of the bay and river that was published in 1775 to assist pilots in bringing ships into Philadelphia. Dury updated it here with engraved images of ships in the shipping channels. A list of pilots and masters who believe the chart would help 'safe navigation' in the bay is in a box at the upper left and a tide table is at the lower right. Segmented on 18th century linen folding to pocket map (6 x 8") with original vellum tab labeled in manuscript brown ink.

References: Sellers & Van Ee #1359.

Condition: B

Very crisp with a couple of tiny spots, overall very good except that the side margins were trimmed into neat line when it was mounted on linen.

Estimate: $3,750 - $4,000
