A very rare Breviary leaf due to the elaborate and unusual border decorations on the recto. The Gothic text is written in two columns and the decoration encloses the left column on three sides. The ground is divided geometrically in brown and gold with each diamond shape containing a variety of acanthus leaves, tiny birds and many different flowers. The text begins with a fine miniature showing three priests singing from a Gradual. The text of both sides contains over 25 illuminated initials in red, blue and gold and is from the 97th and 98th psalm: "Cantate domino canticum novum quia mirabilia fecit…" (Sing unto the Lord a new song; for He has done marvelous things). Stylistically, the leaf very closely resembles the Breviary of Bertrand de Chalencon, Bishop of Rodez, Tours, ca. 1490.
