Volume V only. Includes the "Map of Upper California by the U.S. Ex. Ex. And Best Authorities, 1841" (11.2 x 8.2") The map covers the region south of Oregon between the Rockies and the Pacific. Probably the most famous aspect of this map is the identification of Smith's Track across what is present-day Nevada, a reference to the notable mountain man Jedidiah Smith. Several fascinating notations with detail in California of mountains, rivers and even some roads identified. Includes two other folding maps. Book is hard bound with title in gilt on spine.
