Seven maps on 6 folding sheets including the stunning, and extremely large (20" x 200") "Plan of the River St. Lawrence between Prescott and Montreal", by George Matthews. All lithographed maps, all but one with hand coloring to depict navigational hazards, rapids, islands, etc. This very interesting reference contains 40pp. of reports, estimates, statements and letters regarding the St. Lawrence River and canal. Includes 2 maps not called for in the table of contents. Original brown cloth boards with leather spine with old paper library labels.

Marbled end papers, couple of signatures, and one map, loose. Some maps with faint foxing and some damage in margins, but remarkable condition for their size.
