"Adams' Syn Chronical Chart or Map of History",

An extremely unusual chart, in the time-line style. Produced by Sebastian C. Adams, Salem, Oregon and published by Stobridge & Co., Cincinnati, Ohio, copyright 1871, updated to 1877. The chart consists of 21 panels (each measuring 12.5 x 27"), laid on linen, and folded accordion style into the elephant folio format. The illustrations and maps are fine, early, chromolithographs. Beginning with Adam and Eve, the chart traces the history of mankind up to 1877 with President Grant. All the standard histories of the time and of classical antiquity were consulted and listed in a bibliography at the front. Long contemporary article describing the work pasted inside front cover. Some damp stain and a few tears to front and back panels, but in remarkably good condition. Pebbled cloth covers, morocco spine and corners. Top board detached, leather corners partially missing.
