"Jupiter et Leda",

A beautiful print of Leda and Jupiter (Zeus in Greek mythology) with their children. Jupiter assumed the form of a beautiful swan to court Leda, the wife of Tyndareus, king of Sparta. From that union, Leda laid eggs from which her children were born. Two were fathered by Jupiter and two by Tyndareus. Another child was also born of some mystery. That child was Helen of Troy, who was thought to be the daughter of Nemesis and Zeus and that a shepherd found the egg and brought it to Leda who adopted her as her own. The original painting is by Andre del Sarte, engraved by Ph. Triere. The print, with title, description and a coat of arms is enclosed in an engraved border.
