Lithographed battle plan, mounted on linen in two parts, binding tabs still apparent. This was one of the battle plans begun in 1867 by Nathaniel Michler Jr. at the behest of the Secretary of War, Major Gen. A.A. Humphries. These plans, for various reasons, were not to be published until 1883. This survey of the site of the surrender of General Lee to the Union Army was conducted and drawn by Major J.E. Weyss, assisted by F. Thielkuhl, J. Strasser and G. Thompson. This large-scale and eminently legible battle plan shows all the strategic topography and the various camps surrounding the area of the last campaign. A fine artifact of the Civil War. Ref: Stephenson (CW) #525.3. Some discoloration in margins.
