A beautifully engraved map issued during the Revolutionary War to acquaint the general British reader with the region involved in the conflict. It is based on John Mitchell's influential map. The Great Lakes are shown on the Bellin model. The colonies are shown without western boundaries and with the notation "Limits of Virginia & New England reaching from Sea to Sea by the Charters of James I". In Canada the "Bounds of the Hudson's Bay Company by the Treaty of Utrecht" is shown. West of the Allegheny Mts. a number of French forts are shown indicating the strength of the colonies' allies. Present day Texas is shown as "Country of the Cenis". Numerous Indian nations are noted. Large decorative title cartouche.
