This dramatic scene shows President Lincoln lying on a bed in the house of tailor William Petersen, who lived across the way from Ford's Theater. Lincoln is surrounded by Mrs. Lincoln, his sons Robert and Tad, Clara Harris (who had accompanied the Lincolns at the play), and eight gentlemen, who are identified below the scene as: Mr. Chase, C.I., Vice President Johnson, Chas Sumner, Secretary Stanton, Secretary Wells, Surgeon General, Secretary Mcculloch, and Attorney General. Sheet size measures 15.1 x 11.0".

Heavy toning with light foxing, several abrasions in the blank margins, and some discoloration along the edges of the sheet where tape had been applied and has since been removed.
