This detailed map shows the "boundary as settled 1846" between the United States and Canada in the Pacific Northwest. Oregon Territory extends to the Continental Divide, while Utah and New Mexico territories are shown in their largest configurations. The border with Mexico is along the Gila River (pre-Gadsden Purchase), and Texas is in its final configuration though somewhat distorted. Locates both the Oregon Trail and Santa Fe Trail. Alaska is Russian America and the Arctic region reflects the most recent discoveries.
