This fascinating and detailed world map comes from a 19th-century Russian teaching atlas by Russian zoologist and entomologist Julian Ivanovich Simashko, published in early printed color, with all text in Cyrillic. There is good topographical detail, with the main map color-coded to show elevation. The map is surrounded by various diagrams showing the physical characteristics of the world, including a comparison of various mountains' heights. Russian atlas maps such as this one are rarely seen on the market.
