The geographical details of this small, uncommon map are based on Henricus Hondius' map of 1630. The map presents California as an island, a partial coastline to the northwest of California with the place names Nova Albion and Serra Nevado, and no Great Lakes. The outline of Terra Australis Incognita is still in evidence and incorporates Australia, but the great Southern Continent is separated from South America by Le Maire Strait. Engraved by Nicolas Auroux.

References: Shirley #466.

A sharp impression on a bright sheet, issued folding with a few faint spots of foxing and a couple of minor extraneous creases.
