This elegantly engraved and scarce Italian map of the South Pacific Ocean was published in Luigi Galanti's Atlante di Geografia Moderna... The map extends from the Bay of Bengal east to the coast of California (labeled Messico), but most of the detail is confined to the islands of the South Pacific. It identifies the Malay Archipelago, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Polynesia, and more. There is little inland detail, but place names line the coasts. The title is embedded in a vignette of a coastal scene with a large ship and several figures in smaller boats rowing away from the shore. Page number 30 at top right.
