"Buffalo Hunting in North America",

This striking sheet features 9 panels related to bison hunting. At center is a larger panel depicting an exciting scene of Native Americans taking down a bison. Other engravings show a slaughter of bison from a train, bone hunters, a herd in a blizzard, and piles of bones and hide-press. The engravings are based on the work of Paul Frenzeny, an American artist best known for his work with Jules Tavernier creating illustrations of the West for Harper's Weekly. By the time this sheet was published in October 1887, American bison were nearly extinct after their tragic and systematic destruction.
