This engraving shows Commodore John Byron meeting the Patagonian "giants" at the southern tip of South America. Byron's account of his circumnavigation of the globe in the HMS Dolphin was published in George William Anderson's A New, Authentic, and Complete Account of Voyages Round the World, which included the explorations of Cook, Byron, Wallis, Anson, Drake and Carteret. Engraved by Prattent.

A crisp impression with marginal soiling, a tiny chip at top left, and a few small binding holes in the top blank margin.
