This handsome small map of Iceland is divided into regions and further subdivided into syssels. There are a few place names and some fine topographical detail. A 1783 "Marine Eruption" is noted in the North Atlantic. There was a great deal of volcanic activity in Iceland in 1783, most notably the eruption of the Laki volcanic fissure, also know as the Skaftar Fires. Published in the 1811/12 editions of George Steuart Mackenzie's Travels in the Island of Iceland, During the Summer of the Year 1810.
